Energy Cost Reduction Initiative

In an effort to be a more transparent organization for our customers and to fulfill the requirements of House Bill 3693, NBU is posting its monthly utility costs. It is important to note that NBU operates three lines of business: Electric, Water and Sewer/Wastewater. The machinery, pumps, equipment, fleet and personnel needed to maintain reliability and ensure system operations, as well as the numerous support facilities that house a workforce of 200 employees ready to meet the needs of over 30,000 customers, means that NBU’s energy requirements are extensive. Rising fuel and utility costs and inflation have had an impact on current operations and addressing these costs has been a priority for our management and employees. NBU intends to implement plans to reduce these costs and reduce its energy consumption by at least 5% every year for the next six years. This posting will be updated once a month.
