PREFACE

The purpose of the NBU DESIGN CRITERIA is to provide guidelines and criteria for planning, design, and construction water and wastewater utilities within the City of New Braunfels and outside the city to the boundaries of the New Braunfels Utilities service area.

The water and wastewater guidelines and criteria presented in this manual provide a foundation or starting point for rational engineering design decisions. The standards contained herein are intended to satisfy the guidelines and policies of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the Texas Department of Health (TDH). However in cases of conflict, the most restrictive requirement shall be considered the minimum criteria or standard.

Developers, architectural and engineering concerns should contact New Braunfels Utilities in the early stages of project planning to insure that adequate services are available and to obtain assistance in designing a system compatible with utility standards.

All architectural and engineering concerns, developers, contractors, owners, plumbers, customers, and all other entities involved with the New Braunfels Utilities water and wastewater systems will be required to conform to the connection and construction policy.

By adherence to the uniform criteria and standards by all concerned entities within the utilities systems, the utilities will reduce maintenance costs, promote better workmanlike installations and thereby reduce excess time and expenditures. Conformity will also attribute to better service and cost reductions to New Braunfels Utilities customers.
