ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN
Division: Accounting

The Accounting Technician performs general ledger and accounting functions which
include analysis, reconciliation, and acquisition of all data and entries from
other NBU divisions.
The incumbent also controls the entire Accounts Payable cycle including the
receipt, processing, and payment of all NBU financial obligations while also
providing miscellaneous support for the Accounting division.
- Analyze and assimilate complex financial data and assemble this
information into concise financial statements and reports.
- Apply appropriate
data gathering and analysis techniques to assure the accuracy of facts
and findings.
- Monitor NBU’s budget activity for conformity to established
budgetary goals.
- Produce memos, reports, and other documents that
are clear, accurate, and grammatically correct.
- Develop and maintain
an organized filing system for personal records and files.
- Utilize
current versions of computer software and hardware provided by NBU
to type professional reports and payroll audits, and to
create user friendly spreadsheets and databases.
- Operate various
standard office machines with accuracy and dexterity.
- Explore creative
and innovative ways of approaching assigned tasks.
- Study and abide
by all applicable federal, state, and internal policies and regulations
to ensure that all accounting
functions
are valid and legal.
- Demonstrate receptivity to new
ideas and approaches, and adapt with flexibility to accommodate any
changes in priorities
or
circumstances.
- Establish priorities and multi-task
so that assigned duties are completed under pressures of time constraints
and deadlines.
- Maintain composure and commitment
to work during periods of stress and heavy workload.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One year of experience in accounting or accounts payable is
required.
