NBU and Chick-fil-A team up for tasty school year
NEW BRAUNFELS— As school children get back into the swing
of a new school year, NBU and Chick-fil-A are joining forces to help make
it a safer—and more delicious—fall semester. The SAFEhaven in Schools team
of Chuck Reininger and Mike Wiley and the SAFEhaven mascot, Bucky the Bucket
Truck, will be visiting New Braunfels area schools to share their message
of safety education and to invite children, in grades kindergarten through
third, to participate in the fourth annual SAFEhaven coloring book contest.
The
SAFEhaven in Schools program provides safety education to children and
teaches them that NBU trucks and personnel can provide them with access to
emergency
services. The trucks serve as safe points from which NBU employees will call
for assistance and wait with children for parents or authorities. On any given
day, dozens of NBU trucks and equipment are deployed throughout the New Braunfels
area. All NBU trucks are equipped with SAFEhaven identification, enabling any
citizen in need to ask an NBU employee to call for medical or public safety
assistance. NBU provides a direct line of communication to emergency services
such as police,
fire and EMTs. SAFEhaven provides children and adults an alternative to asking
for help from people they don’t know.
SAFEhaven coloring books are passed out
to each child during the school program, which they can take home and share
what they have learned with their parents.
Parents, in turn, are encouraged to take the opportunity to discuss the topic
of safety at home, in school and in the community with their child. Inside
each book is an entry for the SAFEhaven Coloring Contest. Entries are also
available
at the NBU Main Office located at 263 E. Main Plaza in downtown New Braunfels
or by visiting the SAFEhaven link on the NBU website at www.nbutexas.com. Parents
are invited to send their child’s masterpiece to NBU, c/o SAFEhaven Coloring
Book Contest, P.O. Box 310289, New Braunfels, TX 78131-0289, or drop them by
the NBU Main Office. Four lucky winners (one from each grade) will receive
a coupon good for four Chick-fil-A combo meals per month for one year and
one Chick-fil-A
lunch party for their homeroom classes during the month of December. Entries
must be received by Wednesday, November 30, 2005.
