2007 Conservation According to Kids calendar contest winners announced
NEW BRAUNFELS—Area third and fourth grade students
had a unique opportunity this year to participate in an educational art contest
that promoted ways in which everyone can effectively conserve electricity
and water. New Braunfels Utilities held its Third Annual Art Contest for
all third and fourth grade students in New Braunfels and their participation
is helping to send an important message about conservation.
"Education about conservation is most effective when it begins at
a young age," explains NBU Communications Manager Gretchen Reuwer.
"Our goal with this project is to provide a format for teachers to incorporate
conservation education into their lesson plan and reinforce the message through
a fun activity that the entire community can benefit from and enjoy."
Thirteen students received a $50 savings bond for their winning entries.
The winners included: Christa Sirio, Kristen Webber, Brittany Nolte,
Allison Brown, Lauren Gilman, Cheyenne Worden, Shalie Spencer, Amanda Bostow,
Caitlynne
Koen, Alyssa LeLeux, James Trotter, Micaela Robledo and Lili
Haus. Their

to Kids" calendar which is available on a first come basis at the NBU
Main Office located at 263 E. Main Plaza. Customers with questions regarding
the calendar project are welcome to call (830) 629-8486.
