Andrew Jones (center) is pictured with a number of
the NBU SAFEhaven
volunteers and their family members. Congratulations,
Andrew!
Children ages 5 to 12 honed their riding skills at
the 2008 SAFEhaven Bike
Rodeo, which was held on Thursday, May 8. Kids were
invited to bring their
bikes to Memorial Elementary School and ride through
three riding courses
that were designed by bicycle safety expert Preston
Tyree to safely simulate
what young riders face on the streets. In
addition, SAFEhaven volunteers conducted free bike
safety inspections,
made sure that every child’s bike helmet fit
properly, registered bikes for the
New Braunfels Police Department, and gave a free
bike helmet to the first
50 riders. For even more excitement, Bike and Run
Works and The Bike
Platz gave away a free bike. The lucky participant
whose name was drawn Thursday evening was Andrew
Jones from
New Braunfels! If
you have questions about the SAFEhaven Bike Rodeo or
any SAFEhaven
program, call (830) 629-8486.
