NBU Implements Payment and Extension Plans, Discontinues Disconnections, and Suspends Late Fees<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

(New Braunfels, TX \u2013 August 8, 2022) \u2013 With customers using 32% more electricity than a year ago to combat the prolonged heatwave, increased natural gas prices, and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas prioritizing reliability over affordability, New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) is implementing the following measures to help its customers, effective immediately:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Braunfels Utilities\u2019 customers have not had their power shut off due to non-payment since the Texas heatwave began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Executive Officer for NBU Ian Taylor commented, \u201cNBU has always been committed to helping its customers. Much like the utility did during COVID-19, its employees are committed and ready to help customers set up individual payment plans during this period of uncertainty.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cWe are proud to be part of this community, and NBU has served our families, neighbors, and friends since 1942,\u201d said Ian Taylor, chief executive officer. \u201cWhile the balance of supply and demand and changing markets remain outside our control, we are working to find ways to lessen the burden on our customers and continue to be a trusted community partner.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Braunfels Utilities\u2019 customers experiencing hardship and needing help are asked to contact NBU and work with the Customer Service department to set up a payment arrangement based on their specific needs. Call 830.629.8400<\/a> Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. \u2013 5:00 p.m., or email customerservice@nbutexas.com<\/a>.  As a reminder, NBU offices will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, August 9, 2022, for an all-employee meeting.  Customers needing to report an outage or service issue may call NBU\u2019s 24-hour Control Center at 830.629.4628 (4NBU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the NBU Utility Bill Payment Assistance program, facilitated by the New Braunfels Food Bank, is available for customers who qualify. To learn about NBU Utility Bill Payment Assistance, visit nbutexas.com\/utility-bill-assistance<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conservation<\/a> remains one of the most effective ways to manage utility usage and costs. The Conservation and Customer Service team is prepared to help customers identify ways to make their homes more energy efficient and will help find ways to reduce water usage.
