Payment and Extension Plans, Residential Disconnects, and Waiving Late Fees Extended Through October 31, 2022, and Forecasts Quarterly Cost of Power<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

(New Braunfels, TX \u2013 September 7, 2022) \u2013 On August 8, 2022, New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) announced plans to help customers with high utility bills by delaying Winter Storm Uri\/replenishing reserves charges through September. We remain committed to helping those customers who are struggling, and the following measures will continue in place through October 31, 2022<\/strong>, and will be evaluated monthly by the NBU Board of Trustees:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Braunfels Utilities urges customers experiencing hardship and needing help to contact its Customer Service department to set up payment arrangements. Representatives will work to set up individualized payment plans based on the customers\u2019 needs. Call 830.629.8400 Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. \u2013 5:00 p.m., or email customerservice@nbutexas.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the NBU Board of Trustees to the newest employee, we are proud to be part of this community and committed to our mission of strengthening our community by providing resilient essential services.  Over the past month, NBU shared its commitment to communicating with our customers and keeping them informed in advance of any billing changes. October NBU bills will reflect the \u201creplenish reserve\u201d amount of $.0130 per kWh in the PCRA line item of the bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The table below is the calendar year, 2022 fourth-quarter total cost of power monthly forecast,<\/em> based on an average of 1,200 kWh usage<\/strong>. The monthly per kWh forecast is estimated to be 12.41 cents plus the monthly Electric Service Availability Charge. It is important to note that this quarterly forecast is subject to change should NBU experience extreme weather and\/or energy market events.<\/strong> Definitions of the following line items and any necessary updates to the quarterly forecasting can be found at nbutexas.com\/rate-breakdown<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are also committed to simplifying the NBU bill. The Generation, Transmission, and Replenish Reserves line items are currently included and identified in the PCRA and Purchased Power line items of the bill.

Conservation<\/a> remains one of the most effective ways to manage utility usage and costs. The Conservation and Customer Service team is prepared to help customers identify ways to make their homes more energy efficient and will help find ways to reduce water usage. The NBU Utility Bill Payment Assistance program, facilitated by the New Braunfels Food Bank, is available for qualifying customers.  Due to the high influx of bill payment assistance applications, NBU staff is helping the New Braunfels Food Bank to process several aspects of the applications, excluding the awarded amount, which remains the sole responsibility of the Food Bank.
