The utility earned Diamond status in the category for utilities with 250,000 to 999,999 worker-hours of annual worker exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur culture empowers every employee to create a safe work environment, and achieving Diamond Status affirms NBU\u2019s dedication to Speak Up, Lead and Care for All,\u201d said CEO Ryan Kelso, New Braunfels Utilities. \u201cPrioritizing safety not only protects our team but also strengthens our operations and enhances the well-being of the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 200 utilities entered the annual Safety Awards for 2024. The entrants are placed in accordance with their number of worker-hours and ranked based on the most incident-free records and overall state of their safety programs and culture during 2024. The incidence rate is based on the number of work-related reportable injuries or illnesses and the number of worker-hours during 2024, as defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHarnessing electricity to keep our communities powered is vital work that can be dangerous, even deadly, if the proper attention isn\u2019t paid to tried-and-true safety practices,\u201d said Jon Beasley, Chair of APPA\u2019s Safety Committee and Vice-President of Electric Cities of GA. \u201cThis award honors utilities that hold fast to these practices and \u2013 in doing so \u2013 put the safety of their personnel and their customers above all else.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"># # #<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enclosures: NBU Electric Operations Team and NBU Safety Team<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>About New Braunfels Utilities:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) is a nonprofit, community-owned provider of electric, water and wastewater services.
