Boil Water for Cloud Country Subdivision Has Been Rescinded
The boil water notice for the Cloud Country Subdivision has been rescinded as of 7:30 a.m. December 16, 2023.
Because the lines have been flushed and the tests have come back clean, your water is now safe for consumption. There are a few precautionary steps listed below that we recommend you take if your home has an ice maker or water filters/softeners.
To ensure that all water filters or softeners are completely clean, it is recommended that you run your softener through a regeneration cycle and replace any water filters that were used during the period of the boil water notice.
As a precaution, it is recommended that to flush automatic ice makers, make three batches of ice and discard. You should throw away ice made during the time the notice was issued, as freezing does not kill bacteria.
The water in the distribution system before the complications was treated water and we are not aware of any breaks or leaks. However, with the loss of pressure, the water during the period of the boil water notice could potentially be subject to the conditions below:
- Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms. These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites which can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms. They may pose a special health risk for infants, young children, some of the elderly and people with severely compromised immune systems.
- The symptoms above are not caused only by organisms in drinking water. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you may want to seek medical advice. People at increased risk should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers.
There was a planned water-line connection as part of NBU’s Goodwin Lane project and there were unexpected complications. The pressure of the water system within the area fell below 20 psi due to the complications. Crews worked to resolve the issue as quickly as possible to restore water services and were able to do so.
