Text NBU to 85700 to sign up for outage notifications, and more. You can report outages, check the status of device interruptions, and receive alerts for service information.
If you or a family member must use a life-sustaining device in your home, complete the appropriate, physician verified documentation. By having the required documentation, we can notify you in the event of a planned outage and be aware of someone in your home who may be at risk in the event of an extended outage. The application is available below.
Critical Care Assistance
Critical Care Account Application – The Critical Care Account application requires a physician’s verification of the need for critical care equipment. The application can be faxed to 830.629.2119 or mailed to NBU, P.O. Box 310289, New Braunfels, TX 78131- 0289.

To enroll in the Text Outage Notification program, you must have a mobile number associated with your account. Enrolling is easy and can be done over the phone by calling a Customer Service Representative at 830.629.8400 or 830.629.4628 after standard business hours.
How to Check on the Status
When affected by an outage, a customer may text #Status to check the status of an outage. A text will be received from NBU’s notification system, reporting the status of the outage at the customer’s location.
Whether the customer reported the outage or received notification of the outage from NBU, the customer will receive a text once the outage is restored.
