Electric Lineman Apprenticeship Program
New Braunfels Utilities offers an Electric Lineman Apprentice Program and training. The NBU Electric Lineman Apprentice Program is certified by the Department of Labor and provides a four-year progressive training platform that includes both on-the-job training and classroom/online learning courses.
To qualify, you must have:
- A high school diploma or GED
- A current Class “A” CDL
- Completed a Pole Climbing Course from a certified agency
- One to three years of experience

Pre-apprenticeship Training Program
Groundsmen are hired at an entry-level and are provided the opportunity to obtain the qualifications stated above. All candidates, internal or external, considered for admission must demonstrate a range of skills and abilities to be accepted in the Apprenticeship Program.
