Electric Lineman Apprenticeship Program
New Braunfels Utilities offers an Electric Lineman Apprentice Program and training. The NBU Electric Lineman Apprentice Program is certified by the Department of Labor and provides a four-year progressive training platform that includes both on-the-job training and classroom/online learning courses.
To qualify, you must have:
- A high school diploma or GED
- A current Class “A” CDL
- Completed a Pole Climbing Course from a certified agency
- One to three years of experience

Pre-apprenticeship Training Program
Groundsmen are hired at an entry level and are provided the opportunity to obtain the qualifications stated above. All candidates, internal or external, considered for admission must demonstrate a range of skills and abilities to be accepted in the Apprenticeship Program.
