No single event tells the story of NBU’s summer. 

It can be found in a child climbing into a utility truck, an employee handing a family a box of food, or a team finding another way to help and connect with customers 

Together, those moments reflect what it means to be Community Powered and the people, partnerships and purpose behind the essential services our community depends on every day. 

Touch-A-Truck 2026 

NBU rolled into Touch-A-Truck at The Country Church in Marion, giving families a chance to climb up, take a closer look and learn about the equipment our crews use to serve the community every day. For some very curious future lineworkers, operators and utility professionals, it was also a chance to see where a career in utilities could lead. 

Junior Deputy Academy 

Sparks were flying at the Junior Deputy Academy at Danville Middle School. NBU Electric Operations demonstrated the power of electricity through an arcing demonstration, while our Safety team taught students about downed power lines and what to do during an emergency.

Serving Alongside the New Braunfels Food Bank 

NBU employees joined the New Braunfels Food Bank at Tree of Life Church to distribute food to local individuals and families. The volunteer effort was another opportunity for employees to step outside their everyday roles and serve alongside community partners. 

Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow 

NBU partnered with Mill Street Youth to give local students a firsthand look at the people, technology and infrastructure behind the essential services that keep New Braunfels running. 

Throughout the camp, students explored utility careers by learning about electrical systems, observing linework operations, testing water quality and discovering the technology used to operate and maintain NBU’s electric and water systems. 

Connecting With More Than 1,600 Local Educators 

At the New Braunfels ISD Education Expo, NBU connected with more than 1,600 educators, administrators and staff. Our team shared information about programs available throughout the school year, including Monster Detective, classroom visits and other opportunities that help students learn about water, electricity, conservation and utility safety.
