A utility easement gives a utility provider the legal right to use a portion of private property for specific purposes, such as installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing utility infrastructure. These areas must remain accessible so crews can safely and efficiently perform essential work.

Keep in Mind

New Braunfels Utilities does not allow any structure or improvement to be placed within a utility easement unless it has been specifically approved in writing. This includes items such as sheds, patios, swimming pools, ponds, spas, signs, mast-type equipment, abandoned vehicles, mobile homes, buildings of any kind, wells, and decorative landscaping. Unauthorized construction can interfere with access, safety, and the ability to maintain critical utility infrastructure.
