NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (June 26, 2026) – Following his election as Mayor of New Braunfels, Michael French has joined the New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) Board of Trustees, continuing a longstanding governance structure in which the city’s mayor serves as a member of the Board.

NBU is governed by a five-member Board of Trustees made up of the Mayor of New Braunfels and four community members appointed by the New Braunfels City Council. Together, the Board provides policy direction and financial oversight for the utility, including approval of the annual budget. The Board helps ensure NBU remains financially strong while meeting the community’s long-term electric, water and wastewater needs.

“We look forward to working with Mayor French as he begins his service to NBU customers,” said Ryan Kelso, Chief Executive Officer of NBU. “The Board plays an important role in helping guide NBU’s long-term vision and ensuring we continue providing reliable utility services to our customers and community.”

Mayor French succeeds former Mayor Neal Linnartz, who served on the Board throughout his tenure as mayor.

“We are grateful to former Mayor Linnartz for his dedicated service and leadership during a period of significant growth and investment for NBU,” Kelso said. “His commitment to thoughtful governance helped advance important projects that will strengthen the reliability of our services for years to come.”
