Total Organic Carbon Monitoring
At New Braunfels Utilities, our top priority is delivering safe, reliable water to over 100,000 residents. To protect public health and meet stringent requirements set by both the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), we conduct regular monitoring and testing—including measuring Total Organic Carbon (TOC) at our Surface Water Treatment Plant.
We publish an annual Consumer Confidence Report, also called the Water Quality Report, so customers can see exactly how their water measures up. For more information or to review the latest report, click here.
Knowing your water is safe to drink is our top priority.
TOC is an indicator of the amount of organic material found in water, primarily from natural sources like algae. By tracking TOC levels, we can fine-tune our treatment processes to maintain the highest possible water quality. This is just one of the many steps we take to ensure that when you turn on the tap, you can trust the water flowing into your home.
We are required to sample and report the TOC levels from our Surface Water Treatment Plant each month to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
