Boil Water Notice Issued – October 15, 2026

October 15, 2026

Update: 4 p.m. October 15

Boil Water Notice Remains in Effect for Copper Ridge Subdivision

NBU crews are continuing to work to restore water service to customers in the Copper Ridge subdivision following a 16-inch water main break.

While some customers may already be experiencing restored water pressure and service, the Boil Water Notice remains in effect for all affected customers in the Copper Ridge subdivision.

Even if water service has been restored to your home, you must continue boiling water before using it for drinking, cooking or consumption. If you do have water service in your home, you can use the water for bathing, flushing, and other non-consumption purposes. Under Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements, the notice will remain in effect until water quality testing confirms the water is safe for consumption.

Our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore normal service. We appreciate our customers’ continued patience and understanding.

NBU will notify affected customers when the Boil Water Notice has been officially lifted. Until then, please continue following ALL boil water precautions.

New Braunfels Utilities has issued a BOIL WATER NOTICE on October 15, 2026, for customers in the Copper Ridge subdivision following a water main break. NBU crews are working to repair the break and restore normal water pressure. Customer in the affected area are asked to temporarily stop irrigation and other nonessential water use until boil water notice is rescinded. Conserving and reducing water use will allow for faster water pressure recovery as crews make repairs.

Affected customers should boil tap water before consuming it until the water system returns to normal operations and the boil water notice can be lifted. NBU will notify customers when repairs are complete, water pressure has been restored and irrigation can resume.

What Should Customers Do?

Until the boil water notice is lifted, boil all tap water for at least two minutes before using it for:

  • Drinking
  • Cooking
  • Making ice
  • Brushing your teeth
  • Washing fruits and vegetables
  • Preparing food or beverages

Bring the water to a vigorous rolling boil and continue boiling for two minutes. Allow it to cool before using or store it in a clean, covered container. If you are unable to boil your water, use bottled water or another safe source of drinking water instead.

Why is this necessary?

The water main break caused a loss of pressure in the affected area.

Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) rules require public water systems to take special precautions when water pressure in the distribution system falls below 20 pounds per square inch (psi). TCEQ identifies pressure below 20 psi as a condition in which the safety of the drinking water supply may be compromised and a boil water notice may be required.

Water pressure helps protect the drinking water system from contamination. When pressure becomes too low, water can flow the opposite direction and carry contaminant

The water main break caused a loss of pressure in the affected area.

New Braunfels Utilities will continue testing the water and will notify customers as soon as laboratory results confirm the water is safe. At that time, we’ll announce that the boil water notice has been lifted and normal water use can resume.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
