H2: Inspiring Learning Through Nature and Discovery
Headwaters at the Comal offers memorable field trip experiences that help students connect with nature, water systems, and the world around them. From native plant habitats to hands-on science activities along the Comal Springs and river, our outdoor setting invites curious minds to learn by doing and exploring together.
H3: Booking and Registration
We’re now booking group field trips for homeschool groups, school classes, scout troops, and other youth organizations. Because programs are primarily held outdoors, we’ll work with you to find the best timing and activities for your group.
To get started, simply reach out to our team to request your preferred field trip dates. Staff are here to help you plan an experience that fits your group’s goals and interests. If you have questions or need support along the way, just reach out — we’re happy to assist.
H3: Hands-On Outdoor Learning Experiences
On a field trip at Headwaters, students explore native plant communities and restored habitats, take nature-led hikes beside the Comal Springs and river, and observe rainwater ponds and watershed features.
Our field trips include engaging, age-appropriate hands-on activities such as water quality testing, macroinvertebrate observations, watershed models, and nature storytime for younger students. These activities help students see science in action and make learning come alive.
H3: Supporting Classroom Learning
We’re here to support what you’re already teaching. Your field trip can include service learning opportunities, art projects, and science activities aligned with educational goals and standards, including TEKS.
