New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) has selected Rebekah Llamas as its new Chief Energy Supply Officer, strengthening the organization’s commitment to reliable, cost-effective energy for the New Braunfels community. Llamas will begin her role on May 18, 2026.

Llamas brings extensive experience in power markets, resource planning and energy portfolio management. Most recently, she served as head of market intelligence for power markets research at Wood Mackenzie, where she led an international team developing price and congestion forecasts across all seven U.S. power markets and delivered insights to support strategic decision-making.

“Rebekah’s experience in power markets and her ability to turn complex data into clear, strategic decisions will be instrumental as we plan for the future,” said Ryan Kelso, Chief Executive Officer of New Braunfels Utilities. “Her leadership will help ensure we continue to deliver reliable, affordable energy while responsibly managing risk on behalf of our customers.”

Power supply is the single largest annual cost for New Braunfels Utilities and one of the most complex areas of its operations. As a community-owned, not-for-profit utility, NBU does not generate profits for shareholders. Every dollar is used to operate and maintain the system. Managing power supply costs effectively is critical to keeping rates as low and predictable as possible while maintaining reliability. Dedicated executive leadership in this area helps ensure decisions remain focused on balancing affordability, reliability and risk for the community.

Previously, Llamas served as power supply manager at NBU, where she managed the energy portfolio, negotiated renewable power purchase agreements and implemented hedging strategies that delivered cost savings.

Llamas holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics from Texas State University and completed the Energy Executive Course through the University of Idaho.
