Our Residential Rate Calculator helps you estimate your monthly utility costs based on your projected electricity, water, and wastewater use.

You can use the dropdown below to view rates for fiscal year 2026 (current year) and fiscal year 2027. This gives you a clearer picture of how rates change over time and helps you make informed decisions for your household.

To get started, follow the prompts and enter your estimated usage. Having a copy of your recent New Braunfels Utilities bill may be helpful. When calculating electricity costs, you’ll also select the season (On-Peak or Off-Peak) to ensure the most accurate estimate. Once everything is selected, just click “Estimate Bill,” and your projected costs will be calculated automatically.

Calculating your utility bill can help you make informed decisions. The NBU rate calculator can help estimate your residential utility costs based on your projected electricity, water, and wastewater use.

You have the option to calculate FY2026 and 2027 rates from the Year dropdown below. You can also choose to calculate rates for the current year (2025).

Follow the prompts and enter your usage amounts to use the rate forecaster. Having a copy of your recent NBU bill may be helpful. To start, choose the utility service type and the year you would like to calculate utility costs. When calculating electricity costs, you must designate the year and an On-Peak or Off-Peak season for an accurate estimate. Complete each section with the appropriate information and press “Estimate Bill.” Current rates will automatically be calculated.

Electricity

Average use 1,200 kWh. (The amount must be entered without commas).

Wastewater rates are calculated using a customer’s three lowest months of water usage in rolling 12-month period. The average for NBU customers is 4,600 gallons. (The amount must be entered without commas)

Residential and Landscape Irrigation Drought Surcharges

(1) As of June 2014 or anytime thereafter, if stage III water restrictions are in effect, NBU will implement at $1.00 per 1,000 gallon surcharge for residential usage greater than 15,000 gallons and for irrigation usage greater than 7,500 gallons per month.

(2) As of June 2014 or anytime thereafter, if stage IV water restrictions are in effect, NBU will implement at $2.00 per 1,000 gallon surcharge for residential usage greater than 15,000 gallons and for irrigation usage greater than 7,500 gallons per month.
