NBU Crews Excel at the 29th Annual Texas Lineman’s Rodeo

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (July 25, 2025) – New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) Journeymen and Apprentices demonstrated exceptional skill at the 29th Annual Texas Lineman’s Rodeo held July 18-19, 2025, in Seguin.
The annual event, hosted by the Texas Lineman’s Rodeo Association (TLRA), brought together electric utility professionals from across the state to compete in rigorous challenges focused on safety, skill and technical expertise.
NBU’s winning individuals and teams include:
- First Place Obstacle Pole – Apprentice: Chance Miller (out of 150 participants)
- Third Place Hurtman Rescue – Apprentice: Klayton Rothrock (out of 150 participants)
- Fifth Place Transformer Bank – Apprentice: Chance Miller (out of 150 participants)
- Fifth Place Double Bell Change – Journeyman Team: Bradley Dietert, Ty McFarlin and Chris Gavigan, (out of 56 teams)
- Fifth Place Overall Journeyman Team: Bradley Dietert, Ty McFarlin and Chris Gavigan (out of 56 teams)
- Second Place Overall Journeyman Team – Municipality: Bradley Dietert, Ty McFarlin and Chris Gavigan (out of 21 teams)
- Fifth Place Overall Journeyman Team – Municipality: Karson Pennick, Nate Wallsmith and Austin Klaerner (out of 21 teams)
“These results are a true reflection of the skill, dedication and hard work of our NBU linemen,” said Coby Henk, NBU Manager of Electric Operations. “Their strong performance at the Texas Lineman’s Rodeo not only showcases their individual talents, but also reinforces NBU’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence and community safety. We also want to recognize the team members who remained on duty to ensure continued reliable service for our customers.”
