NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (July 29, 2025)—New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) will host an Emergency Preparedness Event on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the NBU Customer Solutions Center, 1488 S. Seguin Ave. This free open house event is designed to equip New Braunfels residents with essential knowledge, tools and resources to stay safe, informed and connected during severe weather and other emergencies.

The event, themed “Stay Safe. Stay Informed. Stay Connected.,” underscores NBU’s commitment to community safety and resilience. Attendees will gain insights into preparing for various scenarios, with a strong emphasis on empowering individuals to protect themselves and their families.

“Our goal is to ensure every member of our community feels confident and ready to face the unexpected,” said Billy Shearer, Safety Manager, New Braunfels Utilities. “This event reflects NBU’s commitment to speak up, lead and care for all, providing valuable preparedness strategies and resources that can make a real difference during an emergency.”

What to Expect:

Power Outage Preparedness and Emergency Kits: A presentation on power outage preparedness will provide vital safety tips, a checklist of essential items to have on hand and instructions on how to effectively report and stay updated on utility service interruptions.

Attendees will have the opportunity to view a sample home emergency kit and receive a complimentary starter kit, which includes an emergency whistle, an LED flashlight, a combination emergency blanket and rain poncho, a paper map, a solar bank and a mini first-aid kit. Kits are limited to one per household and are available while supplies last.

Conservation Education Booth: Discover hands-on tips for reducing water and electricity usage, which can be crucial during times of crisis and learn about available programs such as free electric and water home assessments, rebates and other services offered by NBU.

Utility Bill Assistance: Receive one-on-one support and information on programs like the Utility Bill Assistance Program, Budget Billing and guidance on how to read your utility bill. This support aims to help residents reduce their utility costs and provide information on all available services provided by NBU.

NBU encourages all New Braunfels residents to attend this event to enhance their preparedness and contribute to a more resilient community.
