(New Braunfels, TX – August 28, 2025) – New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its annual comprehensive financial report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. This attainment represents a significant accomplishment and a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire NBU management and staff.

This marks the 35th consecutive year NBU has received this prestigious recognition, underscoring its long-standing fiscal accountability and transparency commitment.
“This is a testament to the effective management of our customers’ resources and our ongoing dedication to serving our community with excellence,” said NBU Chief Financial Officer Dawn Schriewer. “The unwavering dedication of our accounting team has led to this well-deserved recognition. It underscores our commitment to sound financial practices and transparency, which is the foundation of what we do.”
The award program, established by the GFOA to encourage excellence in financial reporting, is judged by an impartial panel of finance professionals. NBU’s report met the program’s rigorous standards by demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure.” This includes communicating its financial story to a broad audience of ratepayers, bondholders and other interested parties, and motivating them to read the report.
