(New Braunfels, TX – October 17, 2022) – New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) is now accepting applications for its NBU University program, set to begin on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. NBU University is a series of once-a-month classes, for five months, at various NBU facilities. The program will enable participants to understand better how their municipal, community-owned utility operates.
The objectives for NBU University participants are to provide an understanding of the following:
- Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Guiding Principles of NBU
- NBU operations
- Relationship between the citizens, the NBU Board of Trustees, and NBU employees
- Planning process for capital projects and how those projects are implemented
- Budget planning process, the development review process, responsibilities, and functions of NBU
In addition, participants will receive interactive learning experiences through case studies, site tours, group discussions, and hands-on experiences.
Due to space limitations, enrollment is limited to 25 current NBU customers. Classes will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month. On January 10, 2023, the class will attend a mixer to kick off the new year, with the first class to be held the following Tuesday, January 17, 2023, and continue February through May 2023.
