NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (June 11, 2026) – The New Braunfels Utilities Enterprise Communications team earned a First Place Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) Award in the Internal Communications (Population Over 50,000) category for NBU’s “News Flush” internal signage campaign.

The statewide TAMI Awards Program received more than 700 submissions from municipalities, utilities and public agencies across Texas. NBU’s campaign was recognized among the top entries in its category, highlighting the creativity and impact of the utility’s internal communications efforts.

Originally created as a fun way to share employee news, the “News Flush” campaign, a newsletter displayed in employee restrooms, has become an effective tool for keeping employees informed, connected and engaged across the organization. Receiving this award supports and highlights our ongoing focus on building internal awareness that helps staff better support our customers.

“This recognition reflects our team’s commitment to finding creative ways to connect employees with the work happening across our organization,” said Ragan Dickens, chief communications officer at NBU. “Initiatives like these help strengthen our teams internally, so we can better serve our customers externally.”

This was NBU’s first year participating in the TAMI Awards Program, making the recognition especially meaningful.
