(New Braunfels, TX – January 25, 2024) – The New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) Board of Trustees has formally approved the CEO Agreement, designating Ryan Kelso as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This decision was formalized during today’s regular Board of Trustees Meeting.

After an extensive search, Ryan Kelso, who had served as NBU’s Interim CEO since July 1, 2023, emerged as the clear choice to lead NBU into its next phase.

“Ryan Kelso’s appointment as CEO not only signifies his exceptional leadership skills but also emphasizes his dedication to the goals and values of NBU. His track record of exemplary service, spanning various key roles within NBU since 2015, demonstrates a deep understanding of the organization’s intricacies and a commitment to its success. Speaking on behalf of the NBU Board of Trustees, we are confident NBU will continue to thrive and deliver on its vision, which is ‘be a trusted community partner dedicated to excellence in service’,” said Wayne Peters, NBU Board President.

The selection process, initiated in October, engaged NBU employees and the community through a survey conducted by Baker Tilly. Nearly 200 participants shared insights on the qualities they desired in the new CEO. The comprehensive process led to identifying Ryan Kelso as the most qualified candidate.

Ryan Kelso expressed his gratitude and commitment to NBU, stating, “I am genuinely honored and enthusiastic about assuming the CEO role at NBU. My commitment extends deeply to both the success of our organization and the well-being of our community. Working alongside the exceptional team at NBU, I am confident that together, we will make continued strides towards realizing NBU’s vision. I look forward to engaging with the community and hearing from our valued customers. To that end, we’ve established a CEO page on our website, nbutexas.com/CEO. I welcome you to submit any questions or comments, and I will respond.  Hearing your voice is very important to me and to NBU as a whole.”
